Report on the Action Plan to foster Digital Single Market for Water Services

Developing advanced digital water treatment solutions will contribute dramatically to achieve good status of European water bodies.

The water industry of the future will be smart and resource-efficient. Networked, intelligent sensors and decision support systems will in real time facilitate data acquisition, monitoring and reporting to make better use of energy, avoid unnecessary water losses and minimize the consumption of resources. A study was carried out for the European Commission by the ICT4Water cluster and the water community.

This is due to the fragmentation of the sector, no holistic vision being set out and a lack of integration and standardization of the technology.
