The WADI project presented at the 14th Congresso da Água

On March 7th, 2018 WADI’s partners EDIA and LNEC headed off to Evora, Portugal, to present a paper on the WADI project

The water conference targeting Portuguese-speaking countries is organised by the Portuguese Association of Water Resources (APRH). This year’s edition was focused on the new challenges of water resources management, with an intention of meeting the United Nations’ goals on sustainable development and of coping with the threats posed by climate change. The three-day event offered a stage for the hundreds of people who participated to discuss and to promote scientific innovation aimed at increasing efficiency in water supply systems.

In this framework, representatives from EDIA and LNEC presented a paper entitled "WADI – detecção inovadora de fugas de água em grandes redes de distribuição a partir da vigilância através de aviões tripulados e drones” (WADI - innovative detection of water leaks in big water transmission mains using manned and unmanned aerial vehicles) to an audience composed of water authorities, municipalities, water distribution companies and irrigation associations. The presentation provided an overview of the WADI project’s scope, its methodology and the work performed so far to achieve its new efficient method to detect water leaks. EDIA concluded the speech with a general description of the site in the Alqueva region of Portugal where the WADI service will be tested.
